William Barsky was born in Pittsburgh on April 12, 1912. After high school, he moved to California. He joined the Army in 1942 and served as a radio operator with the rank of Private in the Eight Hundred Fourth Tank Destroyer Battalion. He was killed in a tank explosion near Rome in April, 1945. He wrote to his sister, Sibyl Barsky Grucci, a Pittsburgh sculptor, at least once a week from his induction into the Army untill his death. From the description of William Barsky photographs ...
